Its core features include the ability to alert registered contacts quickly about your current status and location in the event of a seismic event, as well as enabling users to check on the status of their contacts.

The app stores up to 500,000 offline earthquake records, allowing users to search through historical data with ease. Visual mapping features display earthquake locations globally, accompanied by detailed information. Users can also download records of missed earthquakes for review. A timeline control feature enables users to visualize how specific earthquakes relate temporally to others, enhancing situational awareness.

In practical use, the app can be configured to automatically send pre-formatted messages via SMS or email if an earthquake above a specified magnitude occurs. These messages can include the user's location coordinates, assisting contacts in locating or assessing their condition. Users may choose to send either assistance requests or simple confirmation messages indicating safety. Contact registration is flexible, allowing integration with existing address books or manual input.

The app sources earthquake data from multiple reputable feeds, including GNS, USGS, EMSC, BGS, and JMA. Users can filter results by various criteria such as magnitude, depth, date, and proximity. Map-based navigation allows for detailed examination of individual events, with options to view data directly on the originator's site. The included timeline control enhances understanding of seismic activity patterns over time.

Additionally, users have the option to manually trigger alerts at their discretion—useful if they sense an event before automatic detection prompts occur. This flexibility ensures timely communication regardless of real-time detection.

While primarily intended for earthquake scenarios, the functionality extends to other emergency situations where sharing location coordinates with friends is beneficial—such as accidents or injuries during outdoor activities. The app employs device location services but advises that continuous background GPS usage may impact battery life.
